Hound baseball team off to 4-0 start

ALPINE, Texas — The Greyhound baseball team continued to post big numbers Saturday, scoring 32 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Sul Ross State Saturday.

Tim Crafton hit two homers in the first game, a 20-9 victory.

The Greyhounds, who won the nightcap 12-6, have hit 12 homers on their way to a 4-0 start. The Hounds hit 13 home runs all of last season.

The Hounds come home for a weekend series against Colorado School of Mines, starting Friday at Greyhound Field.

Softball

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Zia softball squad advanced to the semifinals of the Angelo State University Softball Classic.

ENMU (2-1) split games in pool play, beating West Texas 4-1 and losing a 10-6 decision to the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma.

In bracket play, the Zias defeated Oklahoma Panhandle State 5-3, earning them a spot in today’s 10 a.m. (MST) semifinal. The host Rambelles and USAO play in the other semifinal. The third-place game is scheduled for noon, and the title game at 2 p.m.
