BPO Does No. 108

Clovis BPO Does #108 held a regular meeting on Jan. 26, with President Gaylynn presiding. Gaylynn called for committee reports. Membership Chairman Georgia Urioste read the application for two new members who will be installed on Feb. 23. Gaylynn turned the meeting over to past Deputy Supreme Installing President Bea Martel. She installed Color Bearers Kaye Parrish and Linda Catanzaro. Entertainment Chairman Carolyn DeWeese report on the upcoming Easter event. Gaylynn reminded everyone of the upcoming NM/South AZ District Meeting to be held in Ruidoso March 10 and 11. A Ritual Practice will be held on upcoming scheduled days to get ready for the NM/South AZ District Meeting.

The next regular meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Elk’s Lodge.

Claud Rainy Day

The Claud Rainy Day Extension Club met on Jan. 25, 2006, at the home of Lucille Johnson.

Three teams took five unlabeled cans of food and prepared surprising dishes which were enjoyed by all.

Before the cooking started, everyone enjoyed the stories about many quilts shown by the hostess.

Glenda Belcher, home economist, was a guest. Members present were Jean Bristow, Ann Carter, Joan Ewing, Judy Gambell, Betty Mobley and Nancy Wilkins.

Business concerned planning for a hostess meeting in March when the “Just-Us” Club will be our guests. Betty and Nancy won the door prizes.

The next meeting will be with Reba Camp on Feb. 8 and with Judy Gambill on Feb. 22.

Delta Kappa Gamma Zeta

Delta Kappa Gamma Zeta Chapter met Jan. 23, at the Ingram Room of Clovis Carver Library.

Jim Pena and Gilbert Saiguero of the Texico Police Department presented a program on gang activity. They told the teachers and retired teachers what to look for in identifying gang members and the influence teachers could have in helping students. The men shared many examples and showed charts to emphasize the presentation.

Cheryl Hinrichs, president, opened the business meeting. The minutes and treasurer’s report were given. A thank you note from Eva Sanchez, a grant and aide recipient, was read. Eva graduated from WTAM in December.

Refreshments with a Valentine theme were served by hostesses Patsy Camp, Dianne Davis and Nedra Isbell. Martha Sumners attended as a guest.
