Sartain, Daphna

Daphna Alana Sartain, 91, of Clovis, died Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

She was born July 5, 1914, in Wellington, Texas, to Joel M. and Eula Tate Gibbs. She graduated from Melrose High School in 1932 and taught at Valley View School and Field School for two years. She married James H. “Jimmie” Sartain Jr. on June 30, 1934, at the home of her parents in the Field community. They farmed for 23 years before moving to Clovis in 1957. She was active in the county extension clubs and sang in the church choir. She worked as a seamstress at the Vohs Company.

Family members said she enjoyed sewing for her daughters and grandchildren. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Thelma Elliot and Evie LaRue; a brother, Joffre Gibbs; and a granddaughter, Chana Dawn

Survivors include two daughters, Agatha Sartain and Patsy Merritt (and husband, Thomas); five grandchildren, Chantel Shipman, Josam, Brenda, Jacque and Brittany Joffrion; four great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Julia, Harrison and Claire Joffrion; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Wayne Salguero will officiate.

Burial will be at the family farm.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund at Trinity United Methodist Church in Clovis.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

DAVID WATKINS

David Wayne Watkins, 39, of Waco, Texas, died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005, at a Fort Worth, Texas hospital.

He was in the U.S. Air Force and stationed at Cannon Air Force Base.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Kilgore Watkins; three daughters, Hollie, Anna and Maria, all of Waco, Texas; mother, Edna Fortman (and husband, Bob) of Granbury, Texas; sister, Sherri Smith (Jaimie) of Burleson, Texas; uncles, James Johnson (Anita) of Dallas, Texas, Truman Johnson (Jan) of Baird, Texas and M.L. Johnson (Helen) of Denver, Colo.; aunts, Martha Jo Honnol (Clint) and Betty Sue Owen (Bill), all of Amarillo; father-in-law, Wayne Kilgore (Teresa) of Clovis; brother-in-law, Chris Kilgore (Sandra) of Lubbock; nephews, Zachary and Grant Smith; and niece, Elizabeth Kilgore.

Arrangements are by Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco, Texas.
