Leslie Eldon McCain

Leslie Eldon McCain, 80, of Bovina died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, at his residence near Bovina.

He was born June 2, 1925, near Finney, Texas, to William Claude and Leona Grace (Lesly) McCain. He married Rose Lee Sanders in Levelland, Texas, in Dec. 30, 1951.

He was a farmer and raised cattle. He was one of the first cotton farmers in Parmer County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bovina and a longtime member of the Farwell Masonic Lodge. He served with the Navy Seabees in World War II.

He received the heritage award from the Bovina Chamber of Commerce in 2004. He was awarded the golden trowel award from the Masonic Lodge. He served three consecutive terms on the Bovina School Board and was election judge for the past 26 years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ben Leslie McCain of Los Angeles and Butch McCain of Grand Junction, Colo.; a sister, Claudie Hill of Littlefield, Texas; and two grandchildren, Augusta and Mac McCain.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Scottish Rite Hospital or First Baptist Church of Bovina.
