Elliott, Harold

Mr. Harold “Bud” Elliott, 73, of Portales, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at Lubbock Heart Hospital in Lubbock.

He was born Dec. 24, 1931, in Miami County, Kan., to Ellis Lucille and Harold Francis Elliott. He grew up in Drexel, Mo., and graduated from Drexel High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Baker University. He later earned his master’s degree in school administration from Wichita State University. He was the head football coach at ENMU for 11 seasons. He was the winningest head coach in the history of ENMU Greyhound football. He coached numerous athletes who went on to become professional athletes or coaches at high school and professional levels. He holds positions in the athletic halls of fame at Baker University and Southwestern. He was inducted into Eastern New Mexico’s Hall of honors on Oct. 1.

Family members said he loved football, traveling and meeting people.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Elliott of Portales; son, David Elliott of Dallas, Texas; step-son, David Trepanier of Orange County, Calif .; daughters, Cindy Elliott (and husband, Don) of Arlington, Texas, Janis Stein (Karl) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Sharon Saueressig (Tom) of Burlington, Kan., and Susan Mitchell (Charles) of Corpus Christi, Texas; step-daughter, Lisa Dellinger of Seal Beach, Calif .; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Ann Henderson of Adrian, Mo., and Fran Fritts (Bob) of Millbrook, Ala.

Rev. Mary Sue Hull will officiate the service.
