Dickenson, Melvin Ray

Melvin Ray Dickenson, 74, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at the Retirement Ranch.

He was born Feb. 9, 1931, at Smyer, Texas. He moved to Clovis from West Texas in March 1948. He attended Clovis High School and was drafted by the Army in 1951. After serving two years at Fort Bliss. He returned to Clovis in August 1953. He was employed by Triangle Home Center for 19 years. He was married to Virginia New of Carlsbad on May 20, 1966. He was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God in Clovis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.R. and Mettie Dickenson; three brothers, J.R. Dickenson Jr., Howard Kimbrough and Tharon Kimbrough; two sisters, Melva Fay Dickenson (his twin) and Zora Pruitt.

He is survived by his wife, and a sister, Florence Kirby of Mineola, Texas.

His nephew, Rev. Keeney Ray Dickenson, and Rev. Lemuel Perry will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Steed-Todd Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Texico Cemetery.
