Jim Wayne Howard of Big Spring, Texas, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, in Big Spring.

He was born in 1919 in Strong City, Okla., to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Howard.

He specialized in heavy equipment and later owned his own garage and machine shop, where he rebuilt engines in Gallup. He served in the Army Air Corps from October of 1942 to December of 1945. He lived in Clovis from 1936 to 1950.

Family members said he enjoyed hunting game birds, deer and elk.

Survivors include his daughter, Linda White (and husband Fred) of Big Spring; three brothers, Francis Howard (Billie) of Brisbane, Australia, Wendell Howard of Gallup and Duane Howard (Verdine) of Clovis; a sister, Marian Driscoll of Plano, Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place.
