John Imoe

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel.

John David Imoe, 63, of Portales, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at his home in Portales.

He was born Jan. 25, 1942, in Portales to Maggie and Pete Imoe.

The family moved to California and back two different times while he was a small boy. As a young teenager, he and his brother worked on paper routes together.

At 17, he returned to California where he lived with his oldest brother. The two men worked together doing various jobs, including digging swimming pools by hand. He also worked for a period of time assembling and shipping steel buildings.

After he returned to Portales, he remained there for the majority of his life. He had worked for several local electricians, including Chaparral Electric, Cox Refrigeration and American Electric.

Mr. Imoe enjoyed watching football, especially when the Pittsburgh Steelers were playing. He was a member of the local antique auto club. The real love of his life was his Corvette, as he was in the process of rebuilding it and restoring it for the third time, family members said.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by a son, Jon Wayne Crady of San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Cassandra Crady of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Brandon Crady, Nicholas Crady, Ryan Crady, Travis Crady and Kaitlyn Crady; two brothers, Sam Imoe of Phoenix and Flick Hodges of Denver; two sisters, Betty Miller of Logan and Connie Robinson of Clovis and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kenneth Broad will officiate services.

His many friends will be honorary pallbearers.
