Kenneth Realty sold to Colonial

Kenneth Jones, owner of Kenneth Realty, has sold his business of 29 years to Gayla Brumfield of Coldwell Banker Colonial Real Estate.

“Jo (his wife) and I are in our 60s,” Jones said. “We were ready to slow down.”

Jones said he has been considering selling the business for about a year. “Gayla made us an offer we couldn’t refuse,” he said.

The longtime real estate agent said he and his wife plan to relax and begin volunteering with a Christian-based group called Sojourners. The Church of Christ group travels to struggling churches to offer support in whatever way they need. They do plan to keep their real estate licenses and join the sales team at Coldwell Banker Colonial Real Estate. “I’m looking forward to being strictly in sales,” Jones said.

Brumfield said she is excited at the opportunity to work with Jones because she considers him to be a “good, fierce competitor.”

Kenneth Realty employs 18 sales associates. Brumfield said she recently sat down with most of them to discuss their options.

“I have a wonderful team,” Brumfield said. “I want all of them to come work with me.”

Kenneth Jones declined comment on the employees’ future.

Jones said the deal will merge the two largest real estate companies in Clovis.

The Jones’ plan to lease their office building and join Brumfield in her newly renovated building in 45 days.

“I’m excited for us, excited for our agents, excited for Gayla and hopefully our customers will be excited, too,” Jones said.
