What do you think of Portales?

“What a great place to live. I think Portales is a great place to go shopping, out to dinner or be surrounded by friends in. We are small enough to know each other, yet large enough to have so many services. ENMU adds so much to our quality of life.”

Tell us about your parents.

“Wow! I am who I am because of them. They have always provided all I needed and more. They taught me about character, respect for self and others, high moral standard, a clear line between right and wrong. As a parent, I try to remember what they taught me. Any woman can be a mother; it takes a saint to be a great mom. Any male can be a father; it takes a great man to be a great dad. I have both.”

Tell us about your spouse.

“Now there’s a superstar. I don’t know of anything she can’t do, and do well. A wonderful spouse, great mother to our three children, and one of the hardest working people I know. What a blessing to have a partner to share your life with. She is my best friend.”

Tell us about your first career.

“When I finished my degree at ENMU, I went to work in the wholesale lumber industry. My first job was with Georgia-Pacific Corp. in Albuquerque. I worked two years there, and then moved to Phoenix, AZ.”

How did you end up in Portales?

“While living in Phoenix we had our first child, Jordan. We always said we would move back closer to Portales when we started our family. Never dreamed it would be back in Portales.”

What do you enjoy doing with your free time?

“What free time? We enjoy working on our house, riding dirt bikes, or just sitting in front of our outdoor fireplace eating s’mores.”

What is your favorite smell?

“Bacon cooking on an open fire, next to a mountain stream in northern New Mexico.”

What is your greatest hope?

“That my three children grow up as good Christian men and women. Because I believe if they do, all other things will fall into place.”

What advice would you give to high school graduates?

“Work hard. Never waste time worrying about things you don’t have control of but take control of things you do.”

If you could go anywhere in the world for dinner, where would you go and what would you have?

“Alaska. I would eat fresh salmon from the end of my fishing pole.”
