Local Grease Monkey robbed

The manager of the Grease Monkey, an auto oil and lube shop, was robbed and cut by a man wielding a knife on Monday night, police said.

Clovis police arrested and booked one suspect, a 15-year-old juvenile male. He's at the Curry County Juvenile Detention Center facing charges of robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated battery with intent to commit a violent felony, tampering with evidence, evading a police officer and larceny of a firearm, Lt. James Schoeffel said Tuesday.

After Eric Wuest, 49, locked up the shop at 1401 Prince Street, he said he carried his briefcase and walked to his truck parked in the middle of the Grease Monkey parking lot.

Before Wuest arrived at his truck, a young man ran toward him from 15 to 20 feet away, he said.

Wuest said the attacker told him, “‘Give me your money. Give me your stuff.’”

Wuest said he swung his briefcase in defense.

“The kid with the knife was thrusting it at me, and I got nicked when he grabbed the briefcase,” Wuest said. He said he was not seriously injured.

Wuest said he saw another man wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt across the street who may have been the "lookout" for the attacker.

The second suspect remained at large on Tuesday night, police said.
