Portales Junior High School News

Columbus Day Observed

School will be closed Monday in compliance with federal holidays.

Music News

Choir director Franklin Smith says that the junior high Concert Choir and the Honor Choir are working hard preparing for a concert Oct. 18. Their program will contain many different styles of music from Spanish folk songs to classical and even movie themes. Admission is free, but donations for the choir program will be accepted.

Band students and their director, Cindy Stone, performed in the Eastern New Mexico University homecoming parade last week. Stone said that their training last year really paid off as students had only seven weeks to prepare the music and marching drills this year.
