Mary Cate Burns is a senior at Clovis High School. She is the daughter of James Burns and Katie Haynes.

If money were no object, what would you do to make the world a better place? I would give everyone food, shelter, and access to and education.

What is your favorite smell? Brewing coffee.

Who is your hero and why? My grandfather because of his caring and patient nature. He was someone that I looked to for advice and guidance and he was always willing to listen.

What is your greatest hope? To live the life God has planned for me.

What’s your favorite part about school? Being able to meet and interact with so many different people, and listening to their future plans.

Offices held: Drum major for Clovis High School band 2004-2005 and 2005-2006, president of the Clovis High School Band, 2005-2006, president of the National Honor Society in 2005-06 and a junior representative in 200-05.

Honors received: Who’s Who Among America’s High School students, all-district band past three years, all-state band in 2004, and Rotary Youth Leadership Award.

School activities: Band, National Honor Society and Spanish Club.

Church/community activities: Member of 8:30 choir at Sacred Heart Church.

Hobbies: Golf, skiing.

Future plans: Attending the University of Notre Dame and earning a degree in ophthalmic technology.
