Willard Allen, 65, of Artesia, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, in Lubbock.

He was born on Dec. 12, 1939, in Roswell, to Ned W. and Inez Wright Allen.

He graduated from Roswell High School in 1958. He served in the Army from 1960 to 1964. He married Nellie Gibson on May 31, 1966, in Roswell. In 1971 he joined Allen Roofing Co., the family business.

He belonged to the Artesia Country Club and was a member of the Men’s Golf Association.

Family members said he was a sportsman.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife; his mother; a daughter, Michelle Allen Patrick (and husband, Kelly) of Farwell; a son, Lance R. Allen (Samantha) of Southern Pines, S.C.; three brothers, Ardist and Roy Allen, both of Roswell, and Henry Allen of Carlsbad; three grandchildren, Megan and Cheyenne Patrick, both of Farwell, and Madeline Allen of Southern Pines, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Peggy White officiated the services.

Burial was at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia.
