Mr. Frank Garcia, 95, of Portales, died Friday, July 22, 2005, at Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales.

He was born on Nov. 27, 1909, in Mora, to Ramonita and Francisco B. Garcia.

He lived in the Mora area for many years. He grew up on a ranch, working as a cowboy and a horse trainer. He married Veneranda Gonzales on Jan. 19, 1934, in Mora. They sold the ranch and moved to Portales around 1962. He worked on several different farms in the area and at Borden Peanut Co., retiring in the late 1970s.

Family members said he enjoyed hunting, mowing lawns for elderly friends, and had a special talent with horses.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Paul, Ishmael and Sefarino Garcia; two sisters, Roberta Madina and Susanna Romero; two grandchildren; and a daughter, Sandra Martinez.

Survivors include his wife; eight sons, Jimmy (and wife, Linda), Frankie Jr. (Lucille), Steve (Mary) and Joseph Garcia, all of Portales, Claudio and Simon Garcia, both of Grants, Ernest Garcia (Dora) of Stockton, Calif., and Pat Garcia (Delores) of Mora; four daughters, Sally Clarkson (Tom) of Kansas City, Mo., Maybelle Carrasco (Fred) of Grand, Ore., Stella Majhor (Joe) of Las Vegas, N.M., and Lillian Rodgers (Wayne) of Stockton, Calif.; 37 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Walter Moore and the Rev. Joe Majhor will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Eugene, Ivan, Bobby, Fabian, Simon, Christopher, Gerald, Johnny, Antonio, Ernest John, Toby, Stevie Jr., Jay Allen, Clyde and Melvin Garcia, Daniel Rodgers, Josiah Clarkson, Joshua Carrasco, Joseph and Jared Majhor and Charles Martinez Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be his other grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
