Gloria J. Thornburg, 52, of Lubbock died Friday, July 8, 2005, at home.

She was born on Nov. 17, 1952, in Fort Sumner, where she lived most of her childhood. She married Karl Thornburg on Aug. 8, 1970, in Alamogordo.

She worked at Lubbock Christian University in the business office for 10 years and had formerly been employed with South Plains Super-Kids and The Love Shop. She was a member of the South Plains Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, her mother, Barbara Ratliff of Clovis; two sons, Chris Thornburg (and wife, Melinda) of Chandler, Ariz., and Curtis Thornburg (Trina) Haltom City, Texas; two grandchildren, Preston Thornburg of Chandler and Rebekah Thornburg of Haltom City; a sister, Belinda Hinkle (Curtis) of Bath, Penn., and a niece and two nephews.

Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Sumner Cemetery.

Jim Brewer and Gary Evans will officiated the services.

The family suggests memorials to South Plains Church Christ Pillow Ministry or Super Kids.

Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock.
