Cats finish off busy summer

RUIDOSO — The Clovis High boys basketball team finished a busy summer schedule over the weekend, going 4-0 in a get-together with Class 3A schools Ruidoso, Socorro and St. Michael’s.

The Wildcats finished the summer with a 40-4 record, coach J.D. Isler said, after beating St. Mike’s twice and both Ruidoso and Socorro once.

“That’s pretty good since we’re pretty young and we haven’t had everybody all summer,” said Isler, adding that four of the eight Cats at Ruidoso were sophomores. “We’ve done some good things, and I think our younger kids have grown up a little bit thisx summer.

“We’re not playing as well defensively as we will, but we’re playing well together.”
