Dora News

Good news reports

These are put in by special request.

Lynn Preuit has continued to improve while at his home in Colorado with his wife and family. He will come back down here this week to be taken to Lubbock for test to see how the progress is coming along.

Anita Carmichael said her doctors in Lubbock are surprised at how well she has done since her open heart, double-valve surgery last Monday. The hospital released her Friday to come home. She and Keith asked me to express their thanks to the many people from Houston to Colorado to New Mexico for their concerns.

Mendi Thompson is hoping to make it to July 20 for delivery of her new baby son on that day.

There are many others who are shut-ins, etc. who want to remain in our thoughts and some are needing transplants.

Remember

Vacation Bible School will start July 11 at the Dora Baptist Church.

Update

L.D. and Pearl Hays are doing much better now while in Lubbock. So send them a card, letter or call to chat. I know they would appreciate hearing from friends here.

South County News

This area is sure hoping for beautiful weather this weekend. The Milnesand Reunion is on this Sunday in the Community Building there just across from the Country Junction Store/Post Office, is right by the Fire Station. The registration starts at 9 a.m. and a full day follows.

That includes programs, recognition of those who have traveled farthest and relatives of those who have passed away since last year. There will be a feast at noon. This is potluck as usual and is all followed by an afternoon of fellowship and singing. Everyone is encouraged to be present if you have ever been a local resident or not.

This is a popular, well-known community because it is home area of the Prairie Chicken Festival, but there is an abundance of other forms of wildlife.

The Milnesand Baptist Church is still active and has worship each Sunday. Brad Morgan of Portales is the pastor. Rick Wilcher of the REA is the music and praise leader. Rowena Preuit is still the pianist and even though she moved to Portales about three years ago, still drives the 45 miles out to the church each week.
