Leo Franklin Everhart, 78, died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at his residence in Belleville, Kan.

He was born Feb. 5, 1927, in Belleville, Kan., to Frank and Lydia Peal King Everhart.

He grew up and attended schools of Belleville, Kan. He served with the U.S. Navy as a seaman first class aboard the U.S.S. Dane. He married Ruth Tallent on Aug. 20, 1955. They moved to Clovis in 1961. He owned and operated Leo’s Shamrock Station for 12 years. Then he was manager of a liquor store and lounge in Clovis for several years until his retirement in 1989. In 1991, the couple moved back to Belleville, Kan. Family members said he enjoyed making his friends and family laugh, gardening, hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold and Louis Everhart; two sisters, Opal Owens and Betty June Everhart; and twin sons, Patrick and Michael Everhart.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Doug Everhart (and wife, Vicky) of Clovis; two daughters, Leah Beth Laudeman of Owego, N.Y. and Nancy Northern (Rex) of Bakersfield, Calif.; a brother, Paul Everhart of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Velma Tunks of Central City, Neb. and Shirley Lipker of Oxford, Neb.; seven grandchildren, Mandy Joyce of Arlington, Texas, Joshua Everhart of Tulsa, Okla., Kimberly Weigner of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kristofer Everhart of Clovis, Ashley Abromaitis of San Diego, Calif., Ary Laudeman and India Laudeman, both of Owego, N.Y.; five great-grandchildren, Nathan Weigner, Sterling Everhart, Cody Fleming, and Justin and Allison Joyce.

The Rev. Mark Imel will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Belleville Cemetery in Belleville, Kan.
