5/29 Court Dispositions

The following criminal dispositions were filed in 9th Judicial District Court:

• Alisha K. Spell, 23, pleaded no contest to attempted fraudulent use of a credit card (two counts) and ordered to serve two years less two days supervised probation, pay all probation costs, enter into and complete substance abuse rehabilitation arranged by Spell or the Adult Probation Office.

• Juan A. Garcia, 22, pleaded guilty to unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and concealing identity and ordered to serve 18 months supervised probation, pay a $5 domestic violence offender treatment fee, pay all probation costs, submit a DNA sample and pay a $100 testing fee.

• Joselino (Joey) Padilla, 22, pleaded guilty to distribution of a controlled substance (marijuana) and ordered to serve 18 months supervised probation, pay all probation costs, complete an alcohol and drug abuse screening program and complete any treatment determined necessary by screener, submit a DNA sample and pay a $100 testing fee.

• Chris Anthony Padilla, 35, pleaded guilty to violation of order of protection and use of telephone to harass. 160 days pre-sentence confinement satisfies sentencing.

• Diane Duran, 19, pleaded guilty to bribery of witness (retaliation bodily injury) and ordered to serve two years supervised probation, complete 150 hours community service, complete 16 hours of anger management, submit a DNA sample and pay a $100 testing fee.

• Ismael Navarette, 36, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), use or possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to have operating tail lamps and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and ordered to serve 18 months supervised probation, pay all probation costs, pay a $5 domestic violence offender treatment fee, submit a DNA sample and pay a $100 testing fee.

• Sylvester Taylor, 43, entered an Alford (*) plea and was adjudged guilty of aggravated assault on a peace officer (deadly weapon), aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer and driving under the influence of liquor or drugs and ordered to serve a year less one day supervised probation, pay all probation costs, pay a $5 domestic violence offender treatment fee, submit a DNA sample and pay a $100 testing fee.

• Cindy Pitcock, 40, entered an Alford (*) plea and was adjudged guilty of driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs (first offense) and ordered to serve 180 days supervised probation, attend a MADD victims impact panel, complete DWI school, pay all probation costs and pay a $5 domestic violence offender treatment fee.

• Larry Romero, 40, entered an Alford (*) plea and was adjudged guilty of 10 counts of enticement of a child and ordered to serve 10 years less 10 days imprisonment by the Department of Corrections. Romero will be given credit for 516 days pre-sentence confinement.

* An Alford plea indicates the defendant maintains innocence, while admitting evidence exists that could result in conviction.
