Daniel Ray Riordan Sr., 83, of Clovis, died April 25, 2005, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

He was born on Jan. 20, 1922, in Austin, Texas, to Michael and Gertrude Simpson Riordan.

He married Effie I. Sawyer on April 3, 1948, in Kyle, Texas. He was transferred in 1954 to Clovis by Southern Union Gas where he worked until retiring after 35 years of service. Riordan was a WWII veteran and a member of the VFW.

Family members said he was an avid bird hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leslie and Johnny Riordan; a grandson, Daniel Aaron Story.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Daniel Ray Riordan Jr. of Pflugerfville, Texas, and William Kevin Riordan (and his wife, Greta) of Round Rock, Texas; three daughters, Martha Bacon (John) of Henderson, Nev., Leslie Yvonne Story (Bill), and Karen LeeAnn Vetterly (Bill) of Clovis; a brother, Bill Riordan (Ursula) of Cedar Park, Texas; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Sam Kelley will officiate the services.

Honorary pallbearers are Jack Pierce, Archie Skeen, J.K. Barfield, Clint Tidenberg, Tommy Fickling, Tony Cordova, Van Everett and Johnny Bollinger.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
