Daniel Ray Riordan Sr., 83, of Clovis, died Monday, April 25, 2005, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

He was born on Jan. 20, 1922, to Michael and Gertrude Riordan in Austin, Texas.

Riordan married Effie I. Sawyer on April 3, 1948 in Kyle, Texas. He was transferred to Clovis by Southern Union Gas in 1954 where he worked for 35 years until retiring. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid bird hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leslie and Johnny Riordan; and one grandson, Daniel Aaron Story.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Daniel Ray Riordan, Jr. of Pflugerville, Texas, and William Kevin Riordan (and wife, Greta) of Round Rock, Texas; three daughters, Leslie Yvonne Story (Bill) of Clovis, Karen LeeAnn Vetterly (Bill) of Clovis, and Martha Bacon (John) of Henderson, Nev.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
