Farwell community members recognized

The Farwell Chamber of Commerce recognized several community members at Saturday’s annual banquet.

The top winners were:

• Woman of the Year: Teresa Messman;

• Man of the Year: Marlon Inman;

• Agriculturist of the Year: Ron Anderson;

• Students of the year: Samuel Billingsley and Danielle Cargile.

Keys to the city were presented to Smokey Gast and Ysleta Kittrell for living in Farwell the longest (of those present) along with Farwell’s newest resident, Lyndi Austin.

VistaCare to hold ribbon-cutting

VistaCare, a nationwide hospice agency, will officially celebrate its opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. Thursday at 2708 N. Prince, according to a company press release.

The Curry County Chamber of Commerce and VistaCare representatives will be on hand. The public is invited.

VistaCare opened its doors in Clovis in September and serves the Curry, Roosevelt and De Baca county areas with 16 employees and 16 volunteers. They provide 24-hour, seven-day a week services with registered nurses, officials said.

Advance Auto Parts opens for business

Advance Auto Parts opened its first Clovis location Thursday at 2109 N. Prince Street, according to a company press release.

Recently named one of the “25 Best Managed Companies in America” by Forbes Magazine, officials at Advance said they chose Clovis for its market conditions, strong growth potential and large presence of do-it-yourself mechanics.

The release said the 7,000-foot new store will employ 12 team members who will offer free expert advice, electrical system component testing, and battery and wiper blade installation.

Safety administration enforcing training

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is enforcing its powered industrial lift truck training regulation 29 CFR 1910.178, according to a press release. All forklift operators must be trained, evaluated and certified before operating any powered industrial lift trucks.

The release said the next courses will be held:

• May 25 at the Hilton Garden Inn Albuquerque Airport in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

ENMR board of directors determined

ENMR Plateau’s board of directors was determined by vote Saturday at the coop’s annual meeting, according to a press release.

They include Jerry Sours for Position 3; Jim Lyssy for Position 4; Powhatan “Pow” Carter III for Position 5, and Michael Montoya for Position 6. All but Montoya ran unopposed.
