Wildcat netters win 4-5A opener

The Clovis won its District 4-5A opener Friday with a 5-4 win over Cibola at home.

The Lady Wildcats fell to Cibola 6-3.

After splitting the four singles matches, the Wildcat boys took two of three doubles matches.

Clovis’ Jason Goolsby won his No. 2 match over Carlos Herrera 6-0, 6-3 before teaming up with Adam Quintero for a 6-1, 6-1 win in No. 1 doubles.

In the No. 6 spot, Marlon Wright topped Cibola’s Martin Potter and then won the No. 3 doubles match with Cassidy Carpenter 6-1, 6-1.

Patricia Gallegos and Britni Johnson gave the Lady Wildcats their only wins in the dual. Gallegos and Johnson won the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, respectively, before teaming up for a win in No. 1 doubles.
