There was a little moisture in the south county area Saturday, but no snow accumulation and no muddy roads to hamper school bus routes for this week.

Some of the irrigation farmers are preparing to sow oats around the fields so when they get young crops up there won’t be sand blowing to burn the young plants.

Here and there

Weldon, Mavis and Hershell Carmichael all went to Portales Sunday to the grandson’s house to do a little great spoiling. The great-grandchild is Travis Price and he is the only baby in their family. The parents are Travis and Tamara Price and they live in Portales.

Anelle Fullerton has been gone visiting relatives with one of her brothers. She spent a few days with a son, Daryl, in east Texas.

My great-grandson J. W. and I went to deliver commodities in the area last week.

Several from the Pep and Hiway area were in services at Dora Sunday morning to worship and attend kids and grandkids baptisms. There were also some from the Rogers area present also, and even from Milnesand.

Oil slow

The oil interest is still progressing slowly and we are all hoping it gets to be a hot topic for conversation and activity soon.

Quilting day

Monday was ladies day for the area women to gather and do some quilting on throws for needy, sick people. Those ladies are always doing something for people.
