Reflections on Easter

Many thoughts come to mind when I think of Easter. I prefer to call it “Resurrection Day.” I think of the great sacrifice Jesus made for you and me. I think of the pain, the shame and the agony he endured.

He came to give us “life and to give it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)

Can you imagine what he went through to save us from our sins?

How many of us have “real life?” To be lifeless in our minds, spirits and hearts is a wasted life. That’s why Jesus came, to heal the broken hearted. If you are heartsick today Jesus is the Great Cardiologist. He performs heart transplants all the time. The glorious message of Resurrection Day gives everyone the opportunity to come alive under the loving touch of Jesus.

The Resurrection is more than an historic event. It is demonstrated every day in the lives of hungry hearts. Receive that life today and resurrect from the deadness of just an ordinary existence. Come alive in Jesus. Miracles happen every day. Today could be your day.

The resurrection is a demonstration of life. “In him was life, and the life was the light of men” (John 1:4). Darkness can never overcome the light. Strike a match in the darkest place and light prevails. We are like that light. We are over comers. Through Jesus our hopes, dreams, goodness and faith guide our lives.

The world calls this special day “Easter,” but I call it “Victory… victory over sin, victory over death, victory over the grave. Jesus came in compassion and mercy. He is our Champion. By bearing the sins of the world he proved love is stronger than death. I cannot fathom such love, but my heart is filed with praise and thanksgiving for that supreme sacrifice on that hill called Calvary. Jesus willingly went to the cross for you and for me.

One of the great statements of Jesus spoken in view of his resurrection is found in John 14:19. ”Because I live, you will live also.” It is God’s seal upon the work of Jesus in behalf of a lost humanity. It is proof that God has vanquished the powers of evil and death itself. It’s the resurrection life of Jesus, triumphant over sin, death and eternal destruction. It’s the life ever believer receives from him. Be joyful today!

The child of God who has been laid to rest in a casket is not dead. He is only through with his earthly body. He doesn’t need it anymore. He has simply been transformed. Those who have gone on before us are alive in one form of life and we in another. When we cross over into that barrier, it won’t be into death.

It will be into life, made possible through the incredible love of Jesus. We are simply travelers in a journey of life. Because of Jesus, we can be citizens of another world to come, a land where there is no sickness or death. It is a world where peace and joy reign forever.

The new world for the believer is made possible by the resurrection. The path of Jesus from Gethsemane to Calvary was marked with the saving blood of our Lord. It has been called the “Via Dolorosa,” the way of sorrow.

Look by faith into the empty tomb and tell others the wonderful news. What a Savior!

On that dreadful day so dark and bleak at three in the afternoon, they crucified my precious Lord and laid him in a tomb. The women came in the early morn at the rising of the sun.

“Who shall roll away the stone?” they asked, not knowing it was done. An angel sitting, clothed in white said, “Do not be afraid. He is risen. He is not here. Behold the tomb where he was laid.”

Oh such wondrous love for man that God has made a way.

His name is Jesus, God’s own Son. It’s Resurrection Day!”

HE IS RISEN.

HE IS RISEN INDEED!
