Ruby Riley, 74, of Muleshoe, died Friday March 4, 2005, at Parkview Retirement Home in Muleshoe.

She was born on March 15, 1930, in Portales, to Mary and J.W. Terry.

She was born and raised west of Portales. She married Fred L. Riley on May 4, 1947, in Arch. They made their home in Arch before moving to the Bethel community in 1954. In 1964 she began working at the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home as a cook and a houseparent for several years. She retired in 1975.

In also live in the Texas towns of Loop, Roscoe, Earth and Farwell. Since January of 2003 she lived at Parkview Nursing Home in Muleshoe. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Family members said she enjoyed reading, doing needlepoint, latch hook work, embroidery, ceramics, camping and riding on the back of her sons’ motorcycles. She had a large collection of bells, family members said.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Louis “Fat” Terry, Lynn “Pete” Terry, and Willard “Bill” Terry: three sisters, Lola Mae Hill, Anne Howard and Lucille Hill; an by his wife.

Survivors include three sons, Ron Riley (and wife, Carolyn) of Earth, Mike Riley (Delilah) of Grandview, Texas, and Tommy Riley (Rebecca) of Stanton, Texas; two daughters, Char Rector (Delbert) of Portales and Treasa Robertson (Mark) of Clovis; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dave and Ray Terry, both of Portales; and a sister, Ruth Weems of Portales.

Skip Clark and David Bennett will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.

Pallbearers are her grandsons.
