Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Feb. 2 South County News

Things in this ranching area are looking good. The ranchers are not having to feed their cattle every bite they eat since they have grass from last year’s rains. That should make their year more profitable even in this year ahead.

All in all the area is feeling good since there is more rain showers falling all along to keep the moisture sort of replenished for farmers as well. The wells don’t have to pump so much for crops when there is moisture.

Fun night

The Causey fun night was really enjoyed by most in attendance. There was a pretty good gathering. No word yet on when there would be another one, but I’ll have it in the news if I know about it.

Deceased

Years ago Tony and Irene Vigil lived in the Richland area. They lived there in the early years of the 50’s and had two sons and a daughter when they moved to Dimmitt and worked for Dub’s brother Dale for years. They attended the Richland Baptist Church, so they had many friends. Some have asked about them through the years. This week I learned Irene had died just before Christmas of a heart attack. Tony had been dead for years and one of the daughters and a grand-daughter lived with Irene in Las Vegas. She has a sister, Florence, who lives in Portales. Keep her family in your prayers and may the Lord comfort each of them. She never failed to send me a Christmas card and letter also called just to visit and ask about those they knew here.
