Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Dec. 22 Dora News

Cold, breezy and nice harvesting days all last week. If it stays that way all this week, the farmers should be getting in good shape as far as gathering it all in is concerned. Now it’s time to see if the wet season did any damage to the quality of the product is to be seen.

Jesus’ birthday

The Sunday morning worship services was dedicated to honor Jesus’ birth. The elementary age children gave a musical presentation during the worship hour. They did a performance following several weeks of practicing. Robin Cox and Jannis Cathey were in charge of the practices and presentations. Our thanks to them and the children who took part. Then there was a church “covered dish” meal and fellowship. Marilyn then read the Luke account of Jesus’ birth and everyone joined in to sing Happy Birthday to Jesus before the candle was blown out on the cake in His honor. There were several visitors present and we welcome them back to any and all services to worship with us.

Reports

Gene Massey is home and improving. There are good reports from Layton Belcher and from Kelly Fuller. Bill Victor still doing well. Mendi Bittick Thompson is also doing better. Continue to pray for all those mentioned and others: Cindy Schneider, Saron Redder, Velma Taylor, Kristi Ledbetter.

Also keep in mind James Love and others in Iraq and others there and here, all our men and women in the military, our nation and our leaders and for unity within all our churches.

Interesting Facts: The name Iraq means country with deep roots. Indeed Iraq is a very significant country in the Bible. No other nation except Israel has more history and prophecy associated with it than Iraq.
