Lady Rams post win at Goddard

ROSWELL — Senior Patty Terry and junior Megan Kabrick scored 12 points each to lead four Portales players in double figures Monday night as the Lady Rams cruised to a 58-32 victory over Roswell Goddard.

Juniors Morgan Hill and Ashleah Richards added 11 and 10 points, respectively, as PHS won for the third time in four days after an 0-4 start. The Lady Rams are slated to return to Roswell tonight to take on Roswell High — their fifth game on the road in six days.

Portales was in command all the way, leading 15-5 at the quarter and expanding the margin to 18 points by the end of the third period. Terry had four of the Lady Rams’ five 3-pointers in the contest.

Krissy Bowen was the only player in double figures for the Lady Rockets with 12 points.

Tigers beat FTCS — At Elida, the host Tigers broke open a close game by holding Faith Triumphant scoreless in the third quarter en route to a 62-41 win.

The loss was the first of the season for FTCS (5-1), while Elida (5-4) jumped over the .500 mark.

“We went man (defense) in the third quarter, and I think it caused them problems,” Elida boys coach Darrell Chenault said. “We started pushing the ball up hard, and our quickness finally got ahead of their bigness.”

Wesley Gilmore scored 22 points and Thomas West 21 for the Tigers. Luis McCain (13) and Eric Cathey (11) were in double figures for the Conquerors, who won last month on their home court against Elida 66-46.
