Ida Bell Griggs, 95, of Alamogordo, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2004, in Alamogordo.

She was born on Aug. 2, 1909, in Checotah, Okla. to Luck and Rebecca (Norris) Etchison. In 1928, she married Dan Griggs and in 1946 they moved to Clovis. She was president of the Clovis PTA, a pink lady at the hospital for 23 years, playing soccer with the senior citizens, and as an active charter member of Parkland Baptist Church. In 1998, she moved to Alamogordo and was a member of the First Baptist Church. After retirement, she traveled with family and friends as far north as Alaska and to Wall Lake in the Gila Wilderness. Family members said she led a full, loving life and her kindness and caring touched all those who were lucky enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Jim Griggs; and 11 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a daughter, Toots Green (and husband, John) of Alamogordo; a son, Bill Griggs (LaVerne) of Lubbock; a daughter-in-law, Dolores Griggs of Alamogordo; seven grandchildren, Ron Griggs (Joan) of Alamogordo, Nancy Rich and Johnese Turri (Michael) all of Albuquerque, Al Griggs (Suzy) and Dee Neely (Chet) all of Lubbock, Jody Prell (David) of Carlsbad, and Jeff Griggs of Los Angeles; and 17 great grandchildren.

The Revs. David Prell, Herbert Bergstrom and Doug Brooks will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.
