Celeste Alloy, 48, of Portales, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at her home.

She was born on Jan. 3, 1956, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Marie and Frank Alloy.

She moved from Brooklyn to Portales in 1971. She graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology. She began her career with the New Mexico Department of Human Services as a case worker on Jan. 3, 1978 and later was the supervisor for the Children, Youth and Families Department.

She was member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Portales.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include a brother, Joseph Alloy of Albuquerque; a sister, Angela C. Alloy-Pickerel (and husband, Gary) of Albuquerque; and a number of close friends.

Erlinda Garcia will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Wheeler Mortuary in Portales.

Pallbearers are Sammy Garcia, Don Wilson, Gary Pickerel, Sherry Molder, Lydia Garcia, Lisa Leal and Joseph Alloy.

Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
