Dr. Michele de Maio, 89, of Clovis, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at his home.

He was born on Feb. 9, 1915, in Cava dei Tierreni Salerno, Italy, to Isidoro and Concetta Pisappia de Maio.

He married Ann Hanes on Dec. 23, 1951, in Carlsbad. He received his M.D. degree from Naples University in Italy and completed an internship at Naples University and a residency at Naples Medical Clinic. He attended the Royal Naval Academy Officers School. He began his practice in Clovis in 1949 and retired in 1988. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Vincent de Maio (and wife, Shirley), and their children, Michele, George and Nicholas, all of Clovis; Michele T. de Maio (Mary Kay), and their children, Gabriella Anna and Michele John, all of Chicago; two sisters, Rosanna d’Amico of Rome, Italy, and Carlotta Greco of Naples, Italy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. today at Muffley Funeral Home in Clovis.

Father Carlos Chavez will officiate the services.

The Honorable Judge Robert Brack will give the eulogy.

Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Honorary pallbearers are Nola Pawol, Dr. William C. Crawford, Dr. Nicholas Rowley, Dr. Michael Rowley, Dr. Milton Rowley, Dr. Allan Haynes Sr., Dr. Samuel Neff, Frank Romero, E.G. Abernathy Jr., Dr. Obadias Ferrari, Richard F. Rowley, II, Dr. Brian Willmon, and all of the faithful workers at Home Health Care at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
