Mr. Bonifacio G. Baca, 75, of Portales, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, at his home.

He was born on Aug. 31, 1929, in Anton Chico, to Benigna and Silverio Baca.

He came to Clovis as a young man. He worked at the Hotel Clovis and at a bakery. He married Helen Pacheco on Jan. 11, 1951, in Delia. They made their home in Portales from that time on, and he continued to work in Clovis. He was employed at the Golden West Flour Mill and later at the Levi Straus Plant. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church. Family members said he was devoted husband, father and grandfather, and had pet names for all of his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; two brothers, Robert Baca and Julian Baca; a granddaughter, Cindy Aguilar; and his parents.

Survivors include two sons, Manuel Baca of Harlingen, Texas, and Johnny Baca of Albuquerque; seven daughters, Diana Gomez (and husband, Moises) of Lubbock, Virginia Sydorowich of Albuquerque, Teresa Thibodeaux (Robert) of Clovis, Christina Baca of Las Cruces, Patricia Orcutt of Albuquerque, and Rosie Lee (Randy) and Debbie Baca, both of Portales; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; eight brothers, Joe Baca of Belen, Nino Baca of Tecolotito, Manuel Baca of Gallenas, George Baca of Las Vegas, N.M., Cipriano Baca of Anton Chico, Tomas Baca of Las Vegas, N.M., and Florencio Baca of Anton Chico; and a sister, Anne Baca of Las Vegas, N.M.

A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Helen Catholic Church in Portales.

Father Tobin Hitt will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Robert Thibodeaux, Randy Lee, Moises Gomez, Johnny, Manuel, and Georgie Baca, Pete Pena and Ricky Eckert.
