Upcoming Events

• Floyd Senior Citizens will meet Thursday evening at the Senior Citizen Building for fellowship and games

• School will let out early at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday for Report Card night. Parents may pick up their child’s report cards from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. that evening.

Football

Floyd will host Melrose this Saturday. Both teams are undefeated this season. Don Elder and Kevin Robbins from KSEL 95.3 will be broadcasting the play by play action for the Varsity game at 1:30. Junior High will also be playing at 11 a.m.

Junior carnival

The Floyd Junior Carnival could be Oct. 29 or 30. Football district playoffs are scheduled the same weekend. The date for the Carnival will depend on the outcome of the Floyd/Melrose game.

Church news

The Floyd Methodist Church will be having music and a pot luck on Sunday for Pastor Appreciation Month. Activities begin at 9 a.m.

Around town

Floyd Schools had their Homecoming festivities over the weekend. Friday night was a hayride for the athletes, followed by a bonfire. Radio DJ’s, Rooney and Moon from Mix 107.5 also came out for the hayride. The Varsity Football team defeated Clovis Christian 70-14, the game was called at halftime. Homecoming Queen was Renee Johnson, daughter of Terry and Betty Sherburne. Homecoming King was Jonathan Chavez, son of Larry and Theresa Chavez.
