Oct. 10 Dora School News

Rain, muddy roads and school buses don’t work together very well. Tuesday morning all went well for the early routes gathering up the students, but about the time they all began arriving at school a deluge of rain and hail ushered in by pretty strong wind hit Dora about the same time.

The students made a dash for the buildings but the little preschoolers got pretty wet on the way. Now Patty Mohon and her helpers keep extra clothes at school and a big box of play “dress-up” garbs also. So they had the little ones dress up in those while they dried their wet ones.

Pavement only

The parents met their children Tuesday along the paved routes and if the parents didn’t have four-wheel drive, a good neighbor came to meet them. There was no school on Wednesday due to the roads. All were settled pretty good by Thursday’s routes.

Dates to remember

Oct. 29: Dora School Fun night in the Rogers gym. Booths and bingo open at 7 p.m. Booths and ticket sales close at 9 p.m. Bingo runs until all prizes are gone. The school dance in the ag shop starts at 9 p.m. and closes at midnight.

Oct. 23: ACT test date.

Oct. 18: San Jon, here at 4:30 p.m.

Oct. 19: Melrose, there at 4:30 p.m.

Oct. 21: Elida, here at 4:30 p.m.
