Clovis girls win pageant titles

Reporter's Notebook

Two Clovis girls have been awarded state titles in the New Mexico America’s Choice Pageant, according to a release by the Albuquerque based agency.

According to the release, 7-year-old Eboni Lunsford has been named Miss New Mexico Sweetheart and 19-year-old Creshawna Durrah has been named Miss New Mexico America’s Choice.

Each of the winners will compete in their age divisions at the National America’s Choice Pageant scheduled for Nov. 23-28 in Orlando, said Felice Cambridge, a representative of America’s Choice Pageant.

This is Durrah’s first pageant. “I am more nervous than I am excited about going,” she said. She wonders if she will be the only plus-size person at the national pageant. “It would be cool to have a plus-size Miss America,” she said.

Lunsford is looking forward to the pageant. “I feel great and excited, and the whole family is hoping I could win,” said Lunsford.

Sheila Lunsford, Eboni’s mother, said that she is trying to recruit more girls to represent Clovis in the pageant. For more information on applying you can contact her at 784-9495.
