Mrs. Elberta E. Allen, 75, of Portales, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at her home.

She was born on May 22, 1929, in Portales, to Margia Hayne Camden and Richard Wilson Boyles.

She attended school in Portales. She had lived in Portales and Clovis most of her life. She had held various jobs throughout her lifetime, retiring from Barclays American in Jan. 1989. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. She married O.M. “Mack” Allen on July 19, 1947, in Clovis. Family members said she was a great cook and the teller of humorous stories.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Boyles; two sisters, Margie Owens and Dixie Nelson; a son, Donald Mack Allen; and a grandson, Timothy Aaron Street.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Sherry Street (and husband, Leslie) of Alamogordo; two grandchildren, Melene Quairoli and Steven Street; five great-grandchildren, Matthew Allen, Mason Daniel and Morgan Aaron Wise and Brandon Patrick and Maegan Danielle Street; two brothers, John Boyles of Jacksonville, Ark. and Richard Boyles of Clovis; five sisters, Marie Porter of Roswell, Willie Mae Flatt of Crescent, Okla., Bonnie Henderson of Tulia, Texas, Martha Holcomb of Buena Park, Calif. and Evelyn Combs of Portales.

The Rev. Walter Huber will officiate the services, assisted by the Rev. John Combs.

Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Steven Street, Matthew Wise, Paul Quairoli, Ken and Nathan Combs and Dave Dodson.

Honorary pallbearers are Mason and Morgan Wise, Garrett Dodson, John and George Combs and the members of the T.E.L. Sunday School Class.
