Teal, Eva

Eva Loree Teal, 88, of Odessa, Texas, died Monday, June 28, 2004, at Blue Bonnet Nursing Home in Albany, Texas.

She was born on March 24, 1916, in Comanche, Texas, to George C. and Elizabeth Gleaton Anderson.

She was raised in Comanche, Weatherford and Littlefield, Texas, and in Springer. She married Julius Crofton Teal on Aug. 19, 1939, in Clovis. While her husband served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, she worked in Rhode Island. They made their home in the Fort Sumner Valley where they worked side by side on the family farm. Family members said she loved to sew, work in her garden and care for a beautiful flower garden. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, L.G. Sinclair and Thelma Anderson; two brothers, M.J. and Carl Anderson.

Survivors include a son, Richard Teal (and wife, Carlene) of Pine Top, Ariz.; three daughters, Norma Moore (Wilford) of El Paso, Texas, Ruby Kitchens (Jerry) of Albany, Texas, and Janet Moenk (Wes) of Welton, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Anderson of Fort Sumner and George Douglas Anderson of Gaston, Ind.; seven sisters, Jewel Sasser of Clovis, Mae Del Hodge, Dorothy Neuman, Frances Nahlovsky and Blanche Boyd, all of Fort Sumner, Fern Hay of Milnesand and Wanda Mechnig of Roswell; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Sister Anna Teeter will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Fort Sumner Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Chavez Funeral Home of Fort Sumner.
