Edwards, Helen

Helen Marie Edwards, 86, of Friona, Texas, died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at Parmer County Hospital in Friona, Texas.

She was born on April 23, 1918, in Childress, Texas, to Willie and Flora Potter.

She moved to Fort Sumner with her family in the 1920s. She married Homer Edwards on June 27, 1937, in Fort Sumner. They moved to Melrose in 1950 and lived there until 1993 when they moved to Clovis. Family members said she enjoyed traveling, camping, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Roy Potter; two sisters, Clemmie Lowman and Thelma Byars; a daughter, Barbara Crozier; and a son-in-law, Bob Adams.

Survivors include a daughter, Berlene Adams of Clovis; a brother, Bill Potter of Tucumacari; four grandchildren, John Crozier of Canyon, Texas, Aloha Crozier of Clovis, Kyle Adams of Fort Worth, Texas, and Cody Adams of Fort Worth; and eight great-grandchildren.

Jim Gammon will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Fort Sumner Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Sumner Cemetery Fund or the Children’s Home.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
