Terry Wendell McCormick, 60, of Clovis, died Saturday, April 17, 2004, at the Albuquerque VA Hospital.

He was born on Sept. 17, 1943, to James Wendell and Elsie Pauline Bailey McCormick.

He married Vickie Haskins on Aug. 17, 1993. He spent his early school years in Clovis and completed his education in Santa Fe where he graduated from high school. He served four years in the Marines on combat tours in Vietnam and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the Clovis-Portales Elks Lodge #1244. Family members said he was a devoted husband who enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time with his family and friends and was a skilled carpenter and mechanic. He was the past owner/operator of an independent trucking business. At the time of his death, he was employed by the Postal Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife; an aunt, Mildred McCormick Williamson of Clovis; two uncles, Howard McCormick (and wife, Edith) and Leonard McCormick, all of Valentine, Neb.; three daughters, Michelle Baldwin, Jenna McCormick and Neisha McCormick; a step-daughter, Debra Nutt (Collie) of Dallas; three brothers, Jim McCormick (Karen) of Plaquemine, La., Chris McCormick (Soon Joo) of El Paso, Texas, and David McCormick (Carolyn) of Jonestown, Texas; two sisters, Beverly McCormick Hevner (Ron) of Ft. Pierce, Fla. and Susan McCormick Prive (Donnie) of Gulfport, Miss.; several grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation or the Clovis-Portales Elks Lodge 1244.
