Evelyn Langham, 77, of Gladewater, Texas, died after an illness on Thursday, March 4, 2004, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Gladewater.

She was born Oct. 14, 1926, in Locust Grove, north of Fort Sumner, to Henry N. Potter and the former Sadye Julian.

She worked as an Avon representative in Wayside, Texas, and Vega, Texas, for several years.

She married J.E. Langham on Dec. 15, 1951, in Clovis.

She made her home in Fort Sumner and was a long-time member of The Church On The Hill.

In March 1995, she made her home at Gladewater Nursing Home in Gladewater to be near her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1979; her mother, who died in 1981; a sister, Faye Murdock, in 1986; and a brother, Norman Potter, in 1992.

Family members said she was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.

Survivors include a son, Ronnie (and wife Bonnie) Smart of Longview, Texas; a brother, Homer Potter of Tenehaw, Texas; two grandchildren, Byron Craig Smart of Longview, and Veronica Smart Gleason of Tulsa, Okla.

Anna Teeter will officiate the service.

Burial will be at Locust Grove Cemetery north of Fort Sumner.

Arrangements were made by Chavez Funeral Home, Fort Sumner.
