Encanto Garden Club

Curt and Lisa Jaynes from Garden Source Nursery and Landscaping gave a program on Gardening, Garden Supplies, Gifts, Bedding Plants and General Landscape, when the Encanto Garden Club met on March 9 in the home of Betty Dunlap.

President Betty Dunlap presided over the business meeting and a financial report was heard.

Coral Whitaker reported on the Founders Day luncheon held at the Guadalajara in February.

B.J. Goodwin talked about plantings for Arbor Day and the group voted to donate three trees to be planted in a city park area.

A book “Garden Plants and Flowers” by Lance Hattatt was presented to the city library and old greeting cards were sent to St. Judes, for the children’s craft projects.

The group voted to retain the current officers for another year.

The next meeting will be the annual pilgrimage in April. Guests are always welcome.

Beta Phi Chapter of ESA

Beta Phi chapter of ESA held their March business meeting with hostesses Mary Ann Vinson and Nyra June Patrick.

President Patsy Lorenz called the meeting to order and recited the Opening Ritual. Minutes and correspondence were read by secretary June Patrick, who also gave an interesting educational program on Safety Tips for Women.

Mary Ann Vinson gave the Ways and Means and Publicity reports and stated that all chapter year end reports are due no later than April 1. Philanthropic project St. Jude CRH along with Albertsons Community Partners earned more money and this was forwarded to the ESA Circle of Life.

During the chapters recent February social, it was announced that Gwen Williams was selected as the new chapter Sweetheart. The chapter’s 50th birthday celebration will be held in April.

Nominating committee Mary Ann Vinson, June Patrick and Collene Baldwin read the slate of new officers: Gwen Williams, president; Carman Richard, vice president; June Patrick, secretary; and Collene Baldwin, treasurer.

The next business meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on April 5 hostessed by Mary Ann Vinson.

Fairfield Extension Club

Fairfield Extension Club met on March 12 at the extension building with 18 members answering roll call to “Why I love the rain.” Minutes were read and approved along with the treasurer’s report. A council meeting was attended by five club members. Discussion evolved around the order of more council cookbooks and the membership dinner to be held in April. It was decided to order a corsage for our special guest speaker. Sharon Ragland offered to obtain our door prize for the membership dinner. We also discussed our decorations and what else was needed for the dinner.

We had a wonderful club exchange with Melrose Club and a Mexican stack meal. We had an auction of white elephant gifts using buttons representing a monetary value. We also displayed different crafts that our club has done over the past months. We sent our guests home with crosses made from Masonite board and ceramic tile. All were pleased.
