About 6:30 p.m. March 9, staff at a Clovis alternative school called police regarding a client punching holes in the walls.

Police said they would refer the case to the probation officer of the 16-year-old girl, and school staff said they would take the matter up with the school director.

Shortly after noon on March 10, two people were transported by ambulance to Plains Regional Medical Center for injuries following a crash on the corner of LaFonda and John Doe streets.

The driver of a 1992 Honda said he was southbound on LaFonda when he saw a 1986 Chevy entering the intersection at John Doe. He hit his brakes but could not stop in time to avoid a crash. The Chevy driver said he thought he had enough time to cross the intersection but did not. The Honda driver was cited for failure to yield at an intersection. Four teenage passengers in the Honda reported minor injuries but declined transport to the hospital.

About noon on Thursday, the owner of a Clovis furniture store reported about $2,200 worth of furniture had been paid for by a check later determined to have been stolen. Officers took a description of the people making the purchase and the vehicles they used to transport the furniture away from the store.

Police responded about 10 p.m. Thursday to a bowling alley where they found a 2002 Jeep Wrangler had been broken into and a cable box and cell phone stolen worth $650. The woman calling police said her vehicle had damage from a previous burglary as well.

Shortly after midnight Friday, police noticed a white Nissan Maxima driving north on Sheldon at Manana with its headlights off. Officers followed the vehicle to the corner of Ross and Sheldon when the driver fled the car on foot, leading officers on a foot pursuit but escaping.

Later in the day officers brought in a number of people related to or resembling the man who fled but the pursuing officer reported that he did not believe any of them was the driver who fled officers.

The owner of a house at the 200 block of Axtell called police about 11 a.m. Friday reporting that someone shot 13 BB pellets into four windows at the back of the house sometime after Feb. 23, the last time the house had been checked. The house is currently vacant and used for storage.

Police responded about 10:20 p.m. to a report that a 13-year-old had been attacked by a group of four girls while leaving the movies earlier in the evening. Officers interviewed a person believed to be a relative of the four girls but the relative denied involvement.

About 11:50 p.m. Friday. Clovis police responded to a reported stabbing at the 1200 block of Pecos. Friends told police that a 25-year-old Clovis man had been stabbed in the chest by an ex-girlfriend who had approached the man, screamed, “where’s my money?” and stabbed him.

Police located five witnesses, one of whom was able to provide an approximate address. Police went door-to-door in an apartment complex trying to locate the ex-girlfriend and found the apartment where she was believed to live but did not find her at home.

About 3:30 a.m. Saturday, police noticed a maroon Jeep Grand Cherokee heading southbound on Duckworth that drove into the front yard of a home on the 2400 block and continued southbound. Officers stopped the driver who said he didn’t know why he had driven onto the front lawn. The driver said he was driving a friend home who was too drunk to drive, but himself failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated, first offense.

Police received a call about 3 a.m. Sunday from the 900 block of Wallace Street regarding a domestic dispute in progress involving an active duty airman.

Officers spoke to the airman’s wife who said her estranged husband had attacked another man in the apartment and fled when he heard her calling police. Officers verified that a no-contact order was in place between the husband and wife and attempted to contact the husband, but police reported that Cannon’s law enforcement desk told them they could not release his home address. Police reported they would obtain a warrant for his arrest.
