Windley, William

William H. Windley, 32, of Portales died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in Clovis.

He was born on Aug. 7, 1971, in Fort Bragg, N.C., to William Sr. and Evelyn Bryant Windley.

He was in the U.S. Air Force. He served in Desert Storm and was an aircraft mechanic, crew chief for the F-111 Aircraft at Cannon Air Force Base. He came to Clovis in 1994. After his discharge from the Air Force he later worked with computers and went to school at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales where he was in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was working on his masters degree and was a computer information instructor at Clovis Community College. In his earlier years he was active in track and field, enjoyed basketball, but most of all he loved being a father, family members said. He attended Victory Life Church in Portales.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Edward Baldwin; and his grandmother, Ercelle Bryant.

Survivors include two sons, Darius Windley of Clovis and Dorian Windley of Dallas; his parents, William Sr. and Queen Windley of Springlake, N.C., and Evelyn and Harry Craighead of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sisters, Kim Brooks (and husband, Cleo) of Asheboro, N.C., and Gigi Miller of Antioch, Calif.; his grandmother, Clero Baldwin of Cameron, N.C.; seven nieces and nephews.

The Rev. David Markham will officiate the services.

Cremation has taken place.

Burial will be at the Fort Bragg National Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the William H. Windley Jr. Scholarship Fund, in care of Clovis Community College Foundation.
