Police Blotter 2/8

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About 9:50 p.m. Feb. 2, police arrived at the 1400 block of Axtel regarding a report of shots fired. Police found two spent shotgun casings. Neighbors said they had heard two or three shots before calling police, but police could not find any witnesses who saw a shooter or a suspicious vehicle.

A Clovis business administrator called police to the 2100 block of North Ross about 2:30 p.m. Monday to report finding possible drug paraphernalia. Police recovered a glass light bulb with a black residue on the bottom of the glass and took it into evidence for proper destruction.

Police received a report Monday morning from a junior high gym teacher that two 14-year-old boys who were supposed to be running laps in his class on the afternoon of Jan. 28 were instead punching each other.

The teacher said one of the boys was bleeding and both had blood on their shirts. The assistant principal reported that both boys had been suspended; police reported that juvenile citations would be issued upon their return to school.

About 1 a.m. Tuesday, Clovis police responded to a convenience store at the corner of 14th and Prince streets after a police dispatcher heard screaming over a 911 phone call but could not determine what was going on.

Police intercepted a car leaving the store at a high rate of speed. The car’s occupants said they had an argument with the clerk over the price of a burrito and soft drink special and claimed the clerk was rude and racially biased. The clerk said the two people in the car had thrown several six-packs of soft drinks at her, flicked a cigarette at her, and warned her to “watch her back.”

Police reviewed the security camera tape and reported they would contact the district attorney’s office regarding possible charges.
