Virginia Metler, 86, of Kyle, Texas, formerly of Clovis, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at her daughters’ home in Kyle, Texas.

She was born on Sept. 14, 1917, in Washington, D.C., Walter Goldsworth and Corina Phillips Knowlton.

She was born and raised in Washington D.C. She married David Metler II on in Washington D.C.

After 7 years of marriage she and her husband, David Metler II began their missionary work in 1959, which brought them to Clovis in 1964. She moved to Kyle, Texas in 2000.

Survivors include nine children, Patricia Ruikka of Chelsea, Mich., David Metler III of Albuquerque, Alyce Bloom of Sugarland, Texas, Diana Mangialardo of Loveland, Ohio, John Metler of Clovis, Stephen Metler of San Angelo, Texas, Mary Rogers of Austin, Texas, Joanna Butchee of Kyle, Texas and Susanna Carlson of Hampton, Va.; 23 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Jeff Bloom will officiate the services in Clovis.

A memorial service was held in Austin, Texas.
