Chester Leon Magness, 75, died Tuesday, January 6, 2004 in Electra, Texas.

He was born on Dec. 12, 1928, in Vernon, Texas, to Chester Luther and Amy Daniels Magness.

He married Margaret Stacy on Aug. 6, 1948, in Electra. He lived in Electra for over 50 years where he owned and operated Oil City Barber shop for 46 years. He was a member of the Electra Volunteer Fire Department and worked with the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. He was a member of the Southside Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Earl and George Magness.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Alvin Bounds of Vernon, Texas; three brothers, Raymond Magness of Clovis, Ray Magness of Hobbs and Max Magness of Grand Falls, Texas; two sisters, Wessie White of Clovis and Carolyn McGrew of Buda, Texas; a grandson, Aaron Bounds of Harrold, Texas; two great-granddaughters, Haley and Lexi of Harrold; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 9 p.m. (CST) Thursday at Southside Church of Christ Building in Electra.

Dennis Hoff will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Electra Memorial Park in Electra.
