Clovis resident is honored at museum

Dale Petty of Clovis was honored with 24 other founders of the New Mexico Farm and Heritage Museum in Las Cruces in a ceremony on Jan. 16.

Petty’s name is listed with the others on a bronze plaque that was dedicated in front of the building.

The founders include: Petty, Gov. Bruce King, Marvin Ake, Yetta Bidegain, Frank Bond, Emma Jean Cervantes, Robert Cox, Pete Davis, Linda Davis, Lana Kickson, Art Evans, Max Evans, James Foley, Earl Ray Forehand, Barbara Funkhouser, Ralph Hackey, William McIlhaney, Sandra McKenna, G.X. McSherry, Peter Mocho, Dudley Price, William Stephens, Felicia Thal, Gerald Thomas and J. Edson Way.

The museum is dedicated to preserving and providing information about New Mexico’s agricultural heritage.

Airport director elected to board

Clovis Airport director Steve Summers has been elected to the board of the New Mexico Airport Managers’ Association.

This is Summers’ second term as a board member. He served as the board’s president for one year and its vice president for two years.

Summers has been Clovis Airport director since 1994. He was the city’s purchasing agent and risk manager from 1988 to 1994. He was the assistant airport manager in Las Vegas, N.M., from 1980 to 1985.

Summers also is chairman of the association’s legislative committee. He said one of its goals this session is to pass legislation allocating funding for the state aviation division from airport gross receipts taxes.
