Ida Lou Inge, 75, of Portales, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales.

She was born on Feb. 3, 1928, in Brownfield, Texas, to Minnie Maude and Richard K. Brown.

The Brown family moved from Brownfield, Texas, to Portales in a covered wagon when she was 4. She attended Portales schools and graduated from Portales High School in 1946. She married James Carl Inge on Dec. 27, 1946, in Portales. They worked for many years in the salvage and recycling business. She loved to bowl and competed in a national tournament in Las Cruces in 1962 and a national tournament in Memphis, Tenn., in 1963. Family members said she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles and her dog, Buster Brown. She liked trips to Laughlin, Nev., and going to the races in Ruidoso. She was a member of Christ Community Church in Clovis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; James Carl Inge, two brothers, Curtis and Jack Brown.

Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Inge of Portales; a brother, Jim Brown (and wife, Marge) of Oracle, Ariz.; and a sister-in-law, Bertha Brown of Long Beach, Calif.

Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.

Scott P. Reeves will officiate the services.

Pallbearers will be Blake, Rick, Mike, Willie, Wallace, John, Danny, Gerald and Bobbie Inge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a memorial fund set up at the Portales National Bank in her name.
